about

This track was written alongside SOS and is also a reflection of feelings from the very early days of self-quarantine. The lyrics have to do with the insular nature of our "news" sources where the news itself is often overshadowed by a cocktail of drama, finger-pointing and political allegiance; where individual voices of reliable information mix with speculation from well-intentioned numb skulls into a kind of junk-food mush on Social Media platforms. All the speculation and subsequent bickering assume that we have some modicum of control over our future and it's pretty unsettling when that very basic assumption is challenged by a new, deadly and highly contagious, air-born flu virus, which originated in a bat on the other side of the globe starts killing people you know right here in Brooklyn. "The laws of man will be debated for days while the laws of nature lurk behind coronavirus haze". Oh yea, and toilet paper.

lyrics

No one's gonna see your
Tears of rage
When we built the news cycle
To calmly turn the page
Because here, today
We love celebrity and fame
It ain't about wrong or right
It's how you play the game

So bring it on down
Bring it on down
Bring it on down
But keep it isolated

The little man keeps pointing
His finger of blame
Like a child molesting preacher
Who don't know any shame
And time keeps moving
Like a train through the night
Come the light of morning
We're all gonna pay a price

Bring it on down
Bring it on down
Bring it on down
But keep it isolated

You've got your mountain of toilet paper
Stacked up by the door
And frozen pizza boxes
Lying on the floor
You've got TV's blue light dancing
All around the room
With the strength of your convictions
And a Coronavirus tomb

Maybe we've passed the point
Of revolution
Maybe we've passed the point
Of pointing at the constitution
Maybe it's time to drop,
The finger of blame
And pick this time, right here, right now
To get our head into the game
Most of ya'lll complaining
And feeling misunderstood
Are guilty of just one thing
And that's having it too good
But while little laws of man
Will be debated for days
The laws of nature lurk
Behind Coronavirus haze

So Bring it on down
Bring it on down
Bring it on down
But keep it isolated
You've got to turn around
